DAY 2-3: INTERLAKEN

After only 20 minutes by car you arrive into the second stop of the THE ULTIMATE ROAD TRIP GUIDE AROUND SWITZERLAND :Interlaken. The village between the two lakes, the first thing that catches your eye is certainly the view of all the snowy peaks that frame the valley.

Interlaken we have used it mainly as a support point in fact from here you can easily reach some of the most beautiful places in Switzerland.

The first day we spent in Interlaken among the characteristic streets and a blue bath in the spa of our hotel.

On the second day we decided to visit 2 really unique places BRIENZ and ISELTWALD.

The first one is about 23 minutes by car from Interlaken.

We were struck by the folkloric air that you can breathe in the streets of the village, overlooking the lake. All the wooden cabins, the Swiss flags hanging everywhere made our visit truly unforgettable.

Iseltwald, only 15 minutes from Brienz, is a very small village but it is worth stopping for a lunch by the lake with swans swimming peacefully.

With a small palace on the extreme part of the small peninsula and the blue colour of the lake, this village seems to have just come out of a fairy tale.

There are also plenty of other places to visit from Interlaken such as THUN, SPIEZ and many more.

On the way to the next stage, we stopped at LUNGERN, a small village overlooking a small lake.

The small huts built between green hills framed by the blue of the lake and the mountains are breathtaking.

Wow, this looks amazing. I love roadtrips but I have never thought of driving around Switzerland, but that scenery is unreal. Good advice about the motorway sticker, I’ve been caught out by that in other countries.

I am not a confident driver, so I would probably not do a road trip. Switzerland is beautiful beyond words and any travel whether road or rail is breathtakingly scenic

I’ve only ever been to Switzerland for skiing before – but you show me loads of pretty places to visit outside of ski season! Some of those spa hotels are stunning – I think a relaxation break is in order!
