1- HISTORY OF NINE ARCH BRIDGE
The Nine Arch Bridge was built in the 1920s by a Sri Lankan manufacturer in collaboration with British engineers.
It is located precisely in Demodara, between the stations of Ella and Demodara. It is 24 meters high and 91 meters long, while the arches are 9.

2- HOW TO GET HERE
The Nine Arch Bridge is easily accessible from Ella on foot or by tuk tuk. This last option costs about 200-300 rupees (1. 50β¬), while the first one involves a 5 minute walk in the forest, the path is easy and passable by all.

3- WHAT TO DO
Surely the Nine Arch Bridge is one of the most photogenic and unstable places in Sri Lanka.
In addition to a great photo session you can take a walk on the tracks admiring the vast expanses of tea plantations.
You can also relax while sipping a cool coconut while waiting for the train to pass.

4- BEST TIME TO GO
The best time to go is when the train passes. Usually one every hour, but they’re often not very punctual. We recommend that you go for the 9 AM, as there are fewer tourists.
The most popular time to go to the Nine Arch Bridge is at 10 AM.
The best solution is to ask your hotel or guest house what is the time of the trains on the days when you are there, so as not to make a mistake.

5- THE BEST PLACES TO PHOTOGRAPH
There are so many places to take great pictures of the Nine Arch Bridge.
Surely the most famous is from below, in the middle of the tea plantations.
It’s very easy to get there, there’s a small road just next to the tracks, it’s very steep and you have to be careful, especially if you have all the equipment, but it’s worth it. If you wait for the right moment with the train is magnificent.
Another great place to shoot is directly on the bridge, if you’re sideways following the curve, you can take almost all the strings and make the shot deep and realistic.
If you have a drone here you can fly without any problem, always check if there are signs prohibiting drones because you could face penalties especially in Sri Lanka.
As always, the drone offers unique and wonderful shots.

6- PRICE
Visiting this place does not require the payment of any ticket.
